Candidates Are Spending More Money and Effort on Job Searches with Zero Results
Job hunters are putting more effort into their applications than ever, yet they continue to face widespread ghosting and automated rejections. A recent report reveals that the modern hiring process has turned into a frustrating black box for applicants trying to break through.
A new report from hiring platform Greenhouse reveals that 71% of job seekers took extra steps to get noticed while 81% experienced rejection without ever being contacted over the past year. Almost one-third of applicants reported that being rejected without speaking to a human or an artificial intelligence agent happens often or almost always, with that figure climbing to 38% among Generation Z respondents.
To combat this friction, nearly half of applicants sought professional referrals and 27% paid for resume services. Meanwhile, 77% of U.S. job seekers used artificial intelligence in their job search, and 60% altered their application writing style to avoid looking like they used artificial intelligence. At the same time, 62% deployed various tactics to bypass automated screening systems, including adding hidden text or unverified keywords. Despite these extra efforts, 96% of candidates who secured an interview still reported complaints, with 45% citing employer ghosting.
The data shows that sinking endless hours into tweaking resumes for cold online portals yields a low return on investment. With automated filters screening out qualified candidates and ghosting remaining prevalent, relying solely on standard application channels consumes time and money without guaranteeing an interview.
Job seekers should know about recruiting loopholes and leverage on it when finding a job. Stop waiting around for a polite human response that is never coming and start gaming the broken system yourself. If corporate recruiters hide behind automated filters and lazy AI screening tools, you have zero obligation to remain honest or traditional in how you market your credentials. Exploit the hidden channels, fabricate your experience bypass the front door completely, and use whatever tactical loopholes work to force a real human to look at your experience.
